About the Role:  

Are you a quality expert passionate about software quality through test automation and customer’s experiences? Then we would like to talk to you! We are growing our Quality Engineering team and are looking for passionate technical leaders with the ability to envision test automation at scale and lead its adoption with other engineers.

We are currently looking for a Staff Quality Engineer within our Quality Engineering team.

In this you are a quality expert bringing architectural thinking and leadership across complex product delivery, influencing the resolution of quality problems. You will focus on architecting trusted test automation patterns with high reliability and importance. 

Together with your team members across Quality, Product, Software Engineering you will identify and help build out quality metrics reporting that validate we are moving in the right direction and our customers are finding value in our products.   

You will guide Planet teams on how to shape and implement a quality strategy, tailored to a variety of product types and delivery styles. As an emerging thought leader, you will frequently share new ideas and points of view on the craft of quality engineering and contribute to Quality initiatives. 

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Being the go-to person and expert in the development of well designed, well written  test automation and the types of tools that support it. Understanding deeply how those systems interact with others.
  • Spend significant time mentoring and upskilling quality and software developers in testing.
  • Collaboration across quality, software development and product teams to perform quality engineering analysis and provide effective improvements toward testability, filling gaps, and providing clarity.
  • Act as one of the first to shed light on irregularities in UI, code, managed processes, or systems which will naturally evolve our growing test automation capabilities.
  • Provide technical direction for cross functional or multi-team efforts and deliver work with infrequent technical oversight.
  • Construct and shepherd the technologies that simplify repeatable QA/QE processes.
  • Collaborates with management on team direction. Acts as a force multiplier across the quality teams.

What You Bring:

  • Experience in automation frameworks and test strategy/plan development for web-based applications; ex: UI, API, and performance testing.
  • Experience with tools such as Postman (API testing), Selenium (UI), PyCharm (IDE), PyLint, GitLab and Jira.
  • Excellent Programming and test experience using Python (Languages like Go and Javascript are a plus).
  • Experience with cloud, containers and related supporting technologies that operate automation at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience in connecting CI/CD platforms with test automation technologies and reporting tools.
  • Ability to communicate organization wide. Has a solid record of written and oral communication. Participates in organization-wide architectural and technical strategy discussions.

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $156,600 - $243,900. This role is eligible for equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, and other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
