Role overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Course Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing effective online courses for our platform. You will work closely with subject matter experts to create high-quality course materials, and you will use your expertise in learning design and technology to ensure that our courses are engaging and interactive. You'll need to be hands-on with all phases of the course development life-cycle.
This role reports to the Sr. Director of Content.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Creating, updating, and maintaining educational content
- Working collaboratively with external authors throughout the course life cycle to ensure the course meets quality standards and timelines. Steps in the process include: Pre-course research; outlining the course; authoring the course; performing technical and instructional design reviews, and providing feedback; writing and testing answer-checking; testing and deploying the course; troubleshooting technical issues; fixing bugs related to courses; ensuring new content meets Dataquest quality and style guidelines and standards; fixing content bugs in accordance with our team's SLA.
- Participating in team brainstorming, retro, and stand-up meetings
- Reviewing content performance/feedback and optimizing existing content
- Collaborating in cross-functional teams to improve the learner experience.
What we're looking for
- Experience with instructional design, course creation, teaching, and/or training
- Proficient in Python and SQL
- Experience in data analytics or software engineering (preferred)
- Willingness and ability to learn new technical skills and troubleshoot technical problems
- Attention to detail and high-quality standard
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Works collaboratively with others
- Completed at least one course on the Dataquest platform
