Firefox User Experience works on products and services that keep the Internet open and accessible for all. As part of Firefox UX, the Design Systems team equips designers, and their cross-functional partners, with the practices, principles, and infrastructure they need to do their best work and build better products.

We’re looking for a thoughtful, experienced design systems leader. You’ll develop and drive the team vision while managing the growth of our design system. You’re a systems thinker and trust builder, with an organized but adaptable approach. You enjoy building strong, strategic partnerships across disciplines in content design/UX writing, accessibility, engineering, and product teams. You put people first in everything you do and have a growth mindset.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing design systems team.
  • Work with the team to develop a strategic design systems roadmap, including success measures for the system itself and the dedicated team that supports it. You’ll guide your team on how to prioritize and manage the design backlog.
  • Champion the adoption of a scalable design system across the Firefox organization.
  • Develop a framework for onboarding and training UX designers to the design system, as well as collaborators in engineering and product management.
  • Play a critical role in fostering a strong, collaborative design practice within the Firefox UX team.
  • You’ll model and implement best practice design approaches to people, process, and tooling.
  • Partner with content design, user research, accessibility and engineering leadership on impactful interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Understand product management release planning activities to identify and plan for library needs, released at a strategic and predictable cadence.
  • Cultivate an inclusive environment that values differences and creates a sense of belonging and appreciation for team members.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, interaction design, systems design, and/or UX design.
  • 2+ years in people management and leadership experience building teams: hiring, managing, and mentoring designers. This includes coordinating, directing, and guiding the work of other designers on your team.
  • Experience collaborating with user research and content design/UX writing disciplines.
  • Experience developing processes, assets, and documentation for design system components, with advanced knowledge of Figma. libraries. You understand that every organization has unique needs, and methods and tools must be adapted to meet those needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working across primary platforms for desktop and mobile.
  • Awareness of accessibility, localization and inclusive design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with remote-first teams.
  • You are flexible and efficient – comfortable with ambiguity and exercising a balance between inspiration, bias, and rigorous research in order to move quickly from planning to conducting a project, synthesizing insights, and informing opportunities.
  • Your portfolio exhibits detailed design thinking and problem-solving in regards to the overall user experience, with an emphasis on design systems.
